The primary approach to treatment for anxiety and depression is using Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Behavioural Therapy. Treatment is also informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural approaches, as appropriate. Parent-focused behavioural treatment is the primary approach to treating ADHD symptoms and challenging/disruptive behaviours.
Treatment is goal-oriented and involves active participation both within sessions and between sessions. Tracking progress is also important to better ensure you are achieving the changes you are seeking through treatment. Children and youth are provided skills for challenging themselves one-step-at-a-time in order to get back to daily activities. Parents and teachers also play a large role in treatment and are provided strategies to support children at home and at school. Supporting parents and helping them to recognize and meet their own needs is also an essential part of treatment.
